Being an admin
[CE] is there a class, webinar or someone that could help me out. I'm new at being admin for our team (the last guy retired) I don't know a lot about being Admin. I'm trying to figure stuff out, but I think I'm confusing myself more.
Some things are: how to update Connect Edition from 9 to 11?, How to make it so the team can not update there connect edition? and any other admin stuff I don't even know about.
Thanks

Note: If for any reason you have difficulty with the provided links, first verify that you are logged into the Bentley Communities site, second Copy and Paste the URL link in your web browser.
Minimum Hardware Requirements for MicroStation CONNECT Edition:
An outline of the minimum system configuration for installation and recommended workstation profile for running MicroStation CONNECT Edition can be found in the MicroStation CONNECT Edition Readme under the topics “Installation Requirements” and “Minimum Profile”. Please refer to the section “MicroStation CONNECT Edition Readme” below for directions on how to locate the Readme information.
We recommend verifying any Third Party applications are compatible before implementing.
Hardware requirements and other topics are covered by the MicroStation CONNECT Edition Frequently Asked Questions page.
MicroStation CONNECT Edition Readme:
The MicroStation CONNECT Edition Readme files can now be found on the “Bentley Product Documentation” web page.
Go to the MicroStation tile and set the Publication to “MicroStation ReadMe”, select the correct version and language. Then click anywhere in the tile to bring up the document selected.
Please note that for MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 10 English language, the Readme file is part of the help file. You will need to set the Publication to “MicroStation Help”. For all other languages, set the publication to “MicroStation ReadMe”.
The readme file is also available after installation from the File menu > Help > Readme.
The path to the document follows the pattern: "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Documentation\MicroStation\10.10.0\en\htm\Readme.html". The exact oath will vary with version and language.

Creating Deployment Image:
The following instructions are based on the MicroStation CONNECT readme: Home > Installation > "Deployment Guide" and > "To create a Deployment Image"
The deployment image is created by the system administrators for installing the application with the same installation configuration on multiple machines. The installation configuration includes the installation location, features, shortcuts, additional packages, and so on. Once created, users will be able to double-click Setup_MicroStationx64_10.xx.xx.xx.exe available in the deployment image folder to install the application with the set configuration without the need of any user interaction or internet CONNECTION for component downloads. The deployment image can be shared in the network as a UNC path or pushed out using other remote installation applications.

Customizing Ribbons and Tool Bars:
The MicroStation ribbon interface typically follows the Microsoft Office ribbon with some enhancements.
The ribbon tabs are organized per workflows. Each workflow has a set of tabs and tools within them. The default workflows are Drawing, Modeling (3D model only), Visualization (3D model only), and Task Navigation. Each workflow contains tools pertaining to a common work environment, like the Modeling workflow primarily contains 3D modeling tools for solids, surface, and mesh modeling. Similarly, the Visualization workflow contains relevant tools for animation, rendering, and similar work. The Task Navigation workflow is provided to import and display old tasks and workflows created in previous versions of MicroStation.

The CONNECTION Client is your gateway to Bentley's cloud services, portals, and analytics. By signing into the CONNECTION Client you can find your company's projects, track your time, explore analytics, download software updates, receive relevant notifications, and access other features available to you as a Bentley user. Subscription Entitlement Service (Formerly CONNECT Licensing):
Subscription Entitlement Service (SES) is Bentley's new process for product activation, enhancing our users' digital workflows and improving our licensing capabilities with features such as:
- License alert notifications when you are approaching a custom usage threshold
- Replacing site activation keys with user validation, enhancing security around your Bentley licenses and subscriptions
Traditionally, product activation has been through an activation key that an Organization distributed to all of its users. With (SES) product activation is managed by user sign in through the CONNECTION Client, which is installed on each machine that uses Bentley applications. This offers a more secure and manageable system as it offers usage alerts, notifying your users when they are about to reach a certain usage limit set by the Administrator.

Can anyone tell me when the automatic vertex deletion issue will be addressed? It has been several months and is still costing countless hours.
When modifying a line with multiple vertices the program automatically deletes vertices that is deems unimportant. The problem is that those vertices are important and need to remain in the line. I have spent countless hours manually fixing this.
I know others in the forums are also having this issue as well.
When will it be fixed?
Recently Converted to PowerDraft CE (release 10.12.00.42...Good Grief...What has Bentley done to what was once a great product?
I am running this on a Win10 64bit machine. If the program doesn't crash, it takes for ever to load and then seems to be so unstable even with a very small file. It is also very unresponsive. For example, clicking on the File tab takes anywhere from 10 to 20 seconds to respond if it doesn't freeze up. I have recently discovered a weird anomaly involving importing an Autocad file. The program seems to be ignoring certain layers of a dwg file of a small topo survey. I have tried both Import or attach as a reference and then Merge Into Master and in both instances it will ignore certain layers and not import. I have even tried converting the dwg to a dxf and the same thing results. Oddly enough, I can open the dwg in PD and it opens fine. I can even save it as a dgn file and try to import it into my project file and the very same thing happens... it will not import certain layers.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks..
Publishing .imodel file in Microstation CONNECT (10.11.00.36)
When publishing an I-model in Microstation CONNECT (10.11.00.36), I am only able to obtain a ver 1.6 i.dgn file. This is not recognised by my Navigator CONNECT (06.01.06.10) programme. Is a separate plug-in required to publish .imodel files from Microstation?

The Element Select By tool, in any version of MicroStation, ignores type 22 Point Strings. Is this by design? If so, why?

Autosave and Forced Save
I would like some advice on Autosave and Save.
My supervisor wants all the Autosave disabled. I am not sure I want to do that.
What is being ask is to allow a user to open a file but not to take ownership of it when they close it unless they do a "Forced" save.
We have engineers that will open a file to look at it and when they finish they will close it. My guess is that "Autosave" is then giving them the ownership of the file. My supervisor does not want that to happen.
What we want is to only have the file "Save" when it closes by forcing the file to request a "SAVE" by a dialog box when closing it.
I have set all pc's to "Auto-save Design Changes" as they are made in Preferences, but now have that turned off.
I have the "Save Settings on Exit" selected.
What they want is to essentially mimic AutoCAD that demands you save before you exit or nothing is saved.
What would be the impact of doing this in the way described?
If we do this will the autosave function have to be disabled so no work is automatically saved as it is done?
Any way to download Bentley View Select v8.1?
Any way to download Bentley View Select v8.1? I cannot for the life of me get the new "Connect" version to install, let alone run. I have Select installed at work, but need to do some work from home today and thought I could simply download Bentley View. It's been an utter nightmare trying to get even the installer to try to run. At first nothing at all would happen when running the installer. Running as admin in started to download files then errored out. I don't know what changed, but if it doesn't work, it would be useful to be able to install the previous version that DID WORK!!
