Microstation Update 9 Levels and overrides settings not being retained.

I have just updated to Microstation connect update 9 version 10.09.00.23 and it seems to have reverted to an issue that was resolved in update 7,

e.g  I have a plan referenced into model space that has multiple levels such as walls ceiling furniture etc. This file is then reference into paper space several times to create a ceiling plan and a floor plan etc. varying the levels switched on and off to create a drawing. All very simple and works fine in V8i however now if I exit the file saving setting and reopen it the level setting are lost and the furniture is on the ceiling plan etc. Also level overrides are not retained if a level is over ridden in one plan when I re open the drawing all plans have that level over ridden. 

Is there a new setting I need to know about or do I roll back to update 7. Any help gratefully recieved

MicroStation hangs on startup after Windows 10 Update (Spring Creator) has been installed

Description

Windows 10 Update 1803 (Spring Creator) causes MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 8 and Update 9 to stop working. This update has impacted MicroStation installation on operating systems that are non-English such as German, Danish, Spanish and Italian to name a few. Bentley would recommend avoid taking this update. We are working with Microsoft to provides resolution to the Windows 10 version 1803 update notifications.

Background

Bentley has identified that a new Windows 10 Update (version 1803) release in April 2018 causes MicroStation to hang at startup and makes MicroStation unusable. This issue also impacts other CONNECT Edition vertical applications such as Open Roads Designer and AECOsim Building Designer.

Workaround

The following temporary workaround can be used until a Solution is provided below.
Remove the update and go back to the previous version until Microsoft releases the fix using these steps:
  1. Open Settings
  2. Click on Update & Security
  3. Click on Recovery
  4. Under "Go back to a previous version of Windows 10", Click the Get started button
  5. Select the reason you are rolling back
  6. Click Next
  7. Click No, thanks
  8. Click Next
  9. Click Next again
  10. Click Go back to earlier build to begin the process

Bentley and Microsoft have identified the root cause of the issue and are actually working on a solution

Known Issue – Universal CRT ctype functions can fail with EOF input (Windows 10 1803 SDK (17134), April 2018 release.)

    Connect Bylevel, Bycolor and Bywieght settings

    In V8i there was a mdl that ran asneed Syncbylevel.ma which kept everything by level. It looks like to me that the bylevel, color and weight settings needs to set in the dimension styles to maintain the same bySettings.

    In Connect:

    When placing a dimension with dimstyles and using a element template my dimension lines are set as expected to the BySettings but, my numerical values do not adhere to the BySettings.

    Is the only way to do the BySettings with dimstyles values in Symbology>text setting color and weight to bylevel?

    Hi,

    haw can I find (select, highlight, ...)  the element in the drawing where the field is pointing to.

    If there are multiple fields in the drawing, sometimes we need to check what text(field) is associated to that field.

    Is there a tool to easily place fields ( length, area, ... )

    Can not delete Model From List

    I am trying to delete a duplicate model. Basically it doesn't show in the list of model (REFER IMAGE 1)  but it shows in where you can switch between the models (Bottom left drop down menu, next to views, REFER IMAGE 2). How can I delete that model which does not exist at all.

    Unable to create temporary file for Undo

    Problem

    When performing the Undo command the following error message is being displayed:

    Unable to create temporary file for undo: C:\....\....\Temp\msundo. Undo currently disabled, changes made to the file will not be able to be undone.

    While editing any open file in MicroStation it is not possible to undo any changes made to this file.

    Solution

    Check that there is write access to the temp directory listed in the information message being displayed. This is where MicroStation writes the undo changes. i.e. msundo1, msundo2, etc. If this user logged does not have write access to this file or folder this message will be displayed and they will not be able to Undo any changes made to their files.

    Verifydgn for Connect

    still finding lots of issues in files that it seems only V8's verify dgn is capable of fixing. 

    Are there any plans to update this to Connect, or provide some kind of file fixer? 

    I see from other threads that there is a tool FixRange? however NO documentation. where is this, how do I use? I have been able to load using mdl load FixRange but then can find no tool, or key-ins to run????

    Dimension Note Utility

    Whats up everybody?

    This utility will allow you to add notes to your dimensions via a userform.

    It has some programmed or you may enter your own in the textbox, and specify if you want it above or below the dimension line.

    Instructions:

    Pick or Enter Note
    Press Ok
    Select Dimension

    All constructive criticism is welcomed, as well as ideas or suggestions to approve this tool

    File format and version of AutoCAD files

    Problem

    File format and version of AutoCAD files
    Older versions of MicroStation cannot open .dwg files that are created
    with more recent versions of AutoCAD. A message is displayed saying:

    XM and V8i versions:
    [full path and filename] is not in a recognized file format

    V8 2004:
    [full path and filename] contains errors that prevent opening it.
    Do you wish to attempt to recover the file by correcting these errors?

    Solution

    To find the file format version of the .dwg file, the following steps
    can be taken.

    - open the .dwg file with a text viewer or text editor (Be very careful: do NOT edit and/or save the file).
    - although a .dwg is a binary file, the first characters in the filewill show:

    ACxxxx. The xxxx represents the file format version.

    In case you have received a .dxf file, the file format of the .dxf file,
    can be found in this way:

    - open the .dxf file with a text viewer or text editor (Be very careful: do NOT edit and/or save the file).
    - search for the text line that starts with: $ACADVER. Below that line you will see: ACxxxx. Again xxxx represents the file format version.

    The list below shows an overview of the file format and the version of AutoCAD in which it was introduced. From this list you can derive which Bentley product version you will need to open the .dwg or dxf:

    Import geotagged jpegs into Microstation v8i

    Is it possible to import geotagged images into a dgn-file? Having the images land where the geotag location is? I measured a pipe, and took pictures if the pipe-labels along the way. I'd like these images to show up at the correct location in Microstation. The topics I've found on this date back to 2012, so I was hoping an update had made it possible.

    CEU9 - Label Coordinates not working

    I have been adding co-ordinates to a site plan in SS4, using the Label Coordinates tool. If I close and re-open the file in CEU9 the Label Coordinates tool doesn't work, in that co-ordinates are not added to the model. They don't appear at the end of the cursor for placing.

    My pc did a windows update last night and this morning when I logged onto CC it tells me that there is a MicroStation updated (CEU9) available for install. I already have CEU9 installed!!

      Place Label with multiple levels

      Using the label tool to place labels calling off space info (room names, numbers areas etc) 

      The cell I have created has 3 separate text elements, each on different levels for different displays and drawings, however, when placing the label does not honour these levels, instead placing all elements on the same (active) levels. Is there anyway to get the label to honour the original levels?

      1. Navigate to the CONNECTION Center https://connect.bentley.com

      2. Scroll down the page, and select the Software Downloads option from the My Support section.

      *Only users with the “Product Delivery – Download” role can enter Software Downloads. Find out more about User Management at this wiki.

      3. Enter a product name in the Search field located in the upper left

      *The site, by default, lists the latest CONNECT Edition releases.  If you are searching for an earlier version, or for more languages than English, you can do it from the breadcrumb at the top or by navigating through the different filters on the left hand navigation.  Please visit the Downloads HELP page for further definitions of each Filter choice from the left hand navigation.

      4. A drop-down menu will appear with suggestions based on the product name you have typed in. Choose one if applicable. Otherwise, press Enter or click the magnifying glass to the right of the Search field.

      5. Depending on the results list, you may want to refine the search by adjusting the filters on the left hand navigation such as Generation (for example, if you are searching for a V8i version, you will want to change that filter, or remove the default filter altogether by clicking the Clear All button):

      6. Once a product is in the results list, click the triangle next to All Downloads to display available versions:

      7. Check the box to the left of the product to also select any prerequisites:

      8. To quickly download a single item, click the green icon to the right.

      9. Review and accept the download terms to begin the download.

      • If you do not have Bentley sign in information please contact your site administrator so that he/she can set you up as a web user for your company.
