Microstation V8i (SELECTseries 2). I have a drawing in 2D that consists of multiple elements. I want to have the whole drawing as one entity so i can copy the drawing and paste it elsewhere as one drawing. Your help is appreciated.

[CONNECT] Need to change text line type to phantom
Is it possible to to place text with a phantom or hidden line type? By toggling Level Overrides I can see the desired line type, however other elements are changed that I want to remain as their bylevel attributes.

Update 9 still containing critical bugs
Hi all,
Since the release of the connect edition i have filed several defects to Bentley ( what is normal). A few of these defects are 3D solid modeling functions that work fine in v8i and do not work in the connect edition.
For example, modifiy solid entity.
place a slab
use the draw on solid offset option and make an offset of the top plane
use the modify solid entity face tool and try to push the inside of the offset completely trough the solid --> impossible.
same issues with the modify solid entity point tool, strange behavior.
in general working with connect edition software is also slow, comparing for example loading of Aecosim Catalogs on v8i and connect. loading in connect is slower. (working on a new hp z-book )
Bentley should prioritize bug solving based on importance and not based on the number of tickets logged.

Dimension Inherit
I'm attempting to change the dimension lines and text color. The settings were set to Inherit color and I can't change this (not sure what I have missed). The goal is to use ByLevel for the dimension color. What I have attempted is select ByLevel for the color under Dimensions Lines and Text. Since that did not work I also tried by unchecking Color for each. What I get for either scenario is the same color no matter the level I'm on. Please advise an inexperienced MicroStation user.

Configuration Explorer CONNECT for V8i
Hello Everyone,

- Can I use the CONNECT version of Configuration Explorer to view V8i configurations?
- If so, how do I make it see the V8i programs?
- If that doesn't work, can I download the V8i version of Configuration Explorer?

Reference Linetype Scale
The linetypes in a reference file that shows correctly in all my sheet files except one. I cannot figure out what might be causing this. I have compared the reference file (presentation settings, the toggles, the Global Line Style Scale, Detail Scale, Scale (Master:Ref)…), Model information (type is sheet, scale, Propagate Annotation Scale, and global line style scale), and also compared view attributes. I’m uncertain what else to check to get the linetypes to display the same as in the other sheet files.

annotation cells
Hello,
I understand now the concept of Items, Item types, ... and the reporting of them - thanks to Bentley interaction in this forum!
I think it is indeed an improvement compared with tags in Microstation V8.
Another question now about placing cells and using Items:
I would like to create a group of Item properties and element properties in a specific layout in order to label shapes in my model. I can make that layout, place them in my model and link all text pieces as fields to specific Item properties or element properties of the shape. But for a second shape I have to do this again.
I would like to have a cell with different text pieces in a specific layout and when I place the cell I can link the cell to a shape so that all text pieces (Item properties or element properties) are linked to the chosen shape.
Much like Datagroup Annotation Cells are working in Aecosim.
Is that possible now in plain microstation? Can anyone give me a hint?

CE4 Place Note tool - Text Frame setting
now, would someone of Bentley please explain why was the Text Frame setting removed from the Place Note tool? I do not buy the "to make it simple" explanation, because this definitely is NOT simple. now, just to use the Text Frame I have to open another dialog and create / modify the Dimension Style. you really think THIS is more simple? then you do not use the product at all.
nevermind, since I'm paying my Select, I want this setting back in Place Note tool !

MicroStation / PowerDraft did not uninstall

Problem Description
MicroStation or PowerDraft have been uninstalled from the computer using the Control Panel > Programs and Features tool but the programmes were not removed. Desktop shortcut icon remains and the programmes still open and work on the computer.
Steps to Resolve
The programmes can be uninstalled using the .msi file
By default, the standard locating for this file is C:\BentleyDownloads\.........
Double click the MicroStation.msi or PowerDraft.msi
The Setup Wizard starts, click on Next
Three options should be listed, Change, Repair and Remove
Choose Remove and then select Next
The programme should uninstall, select Finish to complete

Background
The latest version of MicroStation (SELECTseries 3) displays only the executable file of the program itself and do not display the Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications as a separate installation file as it happened for previouse versions. In fact, the Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications v08.11.09 are automatically downloaded and installed to the workstation while installing MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3) if you are connected to the Internet. If you cannot have access to the Internet while installing, the Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications file is also available from the Web downloads/MySELECT CD area of SELECTservices Online.
Steps to download the Prerequisites
1. Use the following link for downloading
https://www.bentley.com/en/support and
2. Press GO TO CONNECTION CENTER, from there you will access https://connect.bentley.com > You need to log in using your Credentials as Select User.
3. Under My Support -> Click on Software downloads
4. This will open the Software Downloads (if you are not directed to that page, you don't have Downoad permission, in that case contact your Site Administrator to request that permission).
5. On the Software Downloads page first click the button Clear All to clear all the preselections.
6. Now you can type: Prerequisites in the search box and you will get prepopulated the Prerequisites Pack for Bentley Desktop Applications(Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications):
6. Once you select that you will see all the available versions of Prerequisites packs - select the one you need for your environment and click the green arrow to download and save it to your computer.
7. Read through the SELECTservices Online Legal Terms of Use and click on Accept

Is it possible to change an ellips to equal segment lenghts?

Have to work this weekend so sorry job questions, but do you know if you can break an ellipse in even lengths between vertex points?
The skull, the ellipse around the square has 600x400 granite groundstone, so can I change the ellipse to 600mm long line segments?The problem is that at a distance of about 30-40m a support wall will follow the outer shell, but the support wall segment is 1000mm long so that ellipse I want to change to 1m long line segment!

Yes, because I want to copy the outer granite stone in parallel to find the ultimate space between the beginning and the end of the radius of the wall of support so that it does not end in or the worst breaks into the outer granite shell

Connect Bylevel, Bycolor and Bywieght settings
In V8i there was a mdl that ran asneed Syncbylevel.ma which kept everything by level. It looks like to me that the bylevel, color and weight settings needs to set in the dimension styles to maintain the same bySettings.
In Connect:
When placing a dimension with dimstyles and using a element template my dimension lines are set as expected to the BySettings but, my numerical values do not adhere to the BySettings.
Is the only way to do the BySettings with dimstyles values in Symbology>text setting color and weight to bylevel?

Custom line type - fence
Hi everyone,
I was curious if I could possibly get some help creating a line type that would resemble a fence line on staking sheets for telecommunications. Currently I manually draw a continuous line and then add circles. I would love to have a custom line type that would complete this task as that way I do it now takes too much time. I have tried to follow tutorial, but just can't get this down. It would be nice as the line type expands that it would add the circles automatically with it.
